About Me

I am a registered nurse with a strong background in theatre practice, specialising in anaesthetics and recovery care across a variety of surgical specialities. My professional interests lie particularly in vascular access and anaesthetic interventions in major oncology. Working in these areas has taught me the importance of staying calm under pressure, communicating effectively, and supporting patients and their families during their journeys. My journey has also included valuable experience as part of both adult and paediatric resuscitation and trauma teams, where I gained the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations. These experiences have not only strengthened my clinical expertise but have also shaped the way I approach nursing with an emphasis on resilience, empathy, and a commitment to always delivering safe, high-quality care.

Providing and assisting with the administration of anaesthesia within a 32 theatre complex housing multiple specialities such as Emergency (CEPOD), Vascular, Neuro, Upper & Lower GI, Maxillofacial/ENT, HPB, Major trauma and Thoracic surgery. Assisting with the provision of anaesthesia within external areas such as Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Intensive Care, A&E Resus and trauma/resuscitation (escalation) teams.

Working at a leading specialist cancer hospital in the UK while incorporating evidence-based practice within individual surgical cases. Engaging with patients undertaking major oncology surgery such as three-stage oesophagectomies and total pelvic exenterations. Also involved in high turnover private lists such as urology, gynaecology and breast surgeries. Experienced in robotic cases which utilise the Da Vinci Robot.

Taking on further responsibilities as an anaesthetic nurse while maintaining clinical experience. Nursing lead for Intraoperative Cell Salvage within the hospital.  In addition to being the nursing lead for Point of Care Testing (POCT) such as Thromboelastography (TEG), ROTEM and blood gas sampling. Involved with the education and training of junior nurses and operating department practitioners.  Experienced in major haemorrhage situations including the safe and effective transfusion of blood products during adverse clinical events. Familiar with EPR systems such as EPIC and CERNER. Liaised and assisted with surgeons and anaesthetists during the hospital’s first robotic cell salvage case.

Working as an agency anaesthetic nurse to provide and assist in anaesthetic care for a variety of specialities within an operating theatre department consisting of 17 theatres. Specialities involve major oncology cases through the St Luke’s Cancer Centre within the hospital. Also working within a 24/7 CEPOD emergency theatre specialising in adult and paediatrics emergencies. Familiar with EPR systems such as Surginet.

Fulfilling healthcare contracts within NSW Health (Armidale Rural Referral Hospital, Grafton Base Hospital, Inverell District Hospital). With a valid National Police Check, WWC (NSW) and AHPRA license. Currently employed under the conditions of a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417). Collaborating with the perioperative team to deliver appropriate anaesthetic care and manage the provision of various surgical workloads. Under the supervision of Dr A Wang I have developed my clinical skills in Vascular Access and i am currently inserting ultrasound guided PICC's, PIVC's and central lines independently. Working in conjunction with theatre CNE J Salvador as an ALS assessor for theatre staff.

This opportunity not only expanded my knowledge of anaesthetic care but also deepened my commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centred nursing practice.

Studying for my Bachelor of Nursing at Cardiff University at School of Healthcare was an incredibly rewarding experience that shaped both my professional skills and personal growth. Through a mix of academic learning and 3100 hours of placements over three years, I developed the ability to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care while building confidence in clinical practice. I learned how vital communication, empathy, and teamwork are in supporting patients and working alongside other healthcare professionals. My time at Cardiff not only gave me the knowledge I needed as a nurse but also inspired me to keep growing, reflecting, and striving to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

Being involved in projects such as developing cell salvage and transfusion protocols has really helped me grow as a nurse. These opportunities allowed me to think more critically about practice, contribute to safer ways of working, and collaborate closely with different members of the theatre team. Working as a preceptor has also been incredibly rewarding, as it gave me the chance to support colleagues in their learning while strengthening my own leadership and communication skills. Looking back, these experiences not only expanded my clinical knowledge but also showed me how much I value teaching, teamwork, and continuous improvement in patient care.

Active memberships

  • I am a current member of the Australian Vascular Access Society (AVAS) which provides an opportunity to liaise with other members in the healthcare field and support and promote excellence in vascular access care for Australians. This organisation provides access to the Journal of Vascular Access (JVA) which considers the publication of original manuscripts dealing with clinical and laboratory investigations in the fast-growing field of vascular access and allows me to provide up to date evidence based knowledge.

​

  • I am a current member of the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia (CNSA)  which provides the essential foundations of peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVCs) and central venous access devices (CVADs), focusing on best practice in device selection, management, and complication prevention. The society also challenges outdated approaches and reinforce the critical role nurses play in delivering safe, effective care.​

  • I am a current member of the New South Wales Nurses and Midwifery Association (NSWNMA) which provides a platform for continuous development of practice and  support/advice on matters relating to the professional nursing practice.

​

  • I am a current member of the NSW Operating Theatre Association (NSWOTA) which promotes and provides perioperative nursing education and assists in the establishment of standards of care for perioperative nursing. This Association allows me to encourage the highest quality care for all perioperative patients.
